As mentioned in previous posts, I am a Big Big Fan of Matte Lipsticks. Whether it’s Lipstick..Lip Cream or whatever..I just Love them. Today, I have “Incolor Matte Me Ultra Smooth Lip Cream” for the review which is a much raved product these days amongst makeup lovers. So let’s get into it..

Incolor Matte Me Ultra Smooth Lip Cream

Price: Rs. 250/- for 6 ml of product.

Packaging: It comes in a regular gloss like tube packaging but in a rectangular/square shape. Packaging wise, these are “absolutely” the closest match for the Sleek Matte Me Lipsticks (pictures comparison of both brand shown below). The tube comes in a plastic packaging with a matte black cap. The overall packaging is very nice and sophisticated. The applicator is quite straight and stiff which gives a good control for the application and helps in lining the lips precisely.

Color & Pigmentation: The color is a very Deep Red-Maroon or Ox Red Shade. This color would look good on almost all the skin tones-specially Fair to Medium tones. The color payoff is very gorgeous and extremely pigmented. The color easily comes in a single swipe giving an opaque finish. If applied more than once would deepen the color and may result in uneven coloring.

Texture: The texture of this lip cream is not creamy as the name suggest. The product is quite liquidy and sets into extremely matte-opaque finish within 30 seconds. It applies smoothly on the lips without any hassle. Also it is transfer proof, which is a very good thing..that means you don’t have to worry about getting stains on the coffee cup or something.

Formula wise, it isn’t very great. Just like other matter lipsticks, it is a little drying, hence, exfoliation is MUST, or at least applying a lip balm on lips before is highly recommended. It also settles into fine lines and is quite visible, which is a turn-off for me. Also, one more thing I noticed, because of it’s liquidy consistency, it might can bleed and set immediately, hence one needs to be extra cautious at the time of application. However, this can be taken care by using a lip liner.

Staying Power: This lipstick managed to stay in place for good 5 hrs -without any meal (or even long depending on the eating activity). It did managed to survive small meals very well. After that.. it tends to fade away specially from the inner area of lips which doesn’t look nice. Also, these are water proof and smudge proof.. that means..great relief for summers & monsoon. When it comes to removing the product, you’ll need an oil-based remover to completely wipe off the lip color. Comes off easily and does not leave any stain behind.

The Good:

  • Super Pigmented, great opacity, matte finish
  • Transfer proof
  • Very Affordable
  • Elegant & Sturdy Packaging-Travel Friendly
  • Does not stain lips
  • Waterproof
  • No Product Smell/Fragrance

The Not-So-Good:

  • Settles into fine lines
  • Formula is drying but not to the extreme
  • Not suitable for extremely dry or chapped lips
  • Forms an inner lip ring
  • Not easily available everywhere
  • Starts chipping off after some time

My Rating:

Overall, I am not very impressed with the product.  I liked it but I didn’t loved it completely. These comes in a variety of shade suitable for all skin tones, particularly this lip shade-402. Great in terms of Pigmentation and Opacity-a true matte lipstick. The formula isn’t very great though, it’s a little drying & settles into fine lines of lips, plus forms an inner lip ring. These are transfer proof, smudge proof and doesn’t stain the lips-great thing for summers & monsoon. Staying power is decent and will survive small meals but not at all oily ones. Comes in a sturdy packaging. In my opinion, it’s an average lip product. Good for those who are learning to play with liquid mattes. But not recommended if you are looking for long wearing & comfortable product.
