Liquid Matte lipsticks are really something IN these days. And Nyx is no behind in delivering one of the best matte lip creams. Today I’ll be reviewing 2 shades from this range-San Paulo & Addis Ababa.
About the Product:
It’s neither lip gloss nor lipstick, it’s the lip cream that goes silky smooth and settles matte on to the lips.. It’s quite lightweight and delightfully creamy. It comes in 11 different shades suitable for almost all skin tones. In India, it is available in few shades at Sephora Store exclusively. I got mine from Sephora-Select City Walk Mall. It retails for Rs. 570/-for 8 ml of product.
My Experience with Nyx Lip Cream:
I have been using this product from past couple of months and I found it to be very durable to use. This lipstick is a velvety smooth soft matte lip cream which settles into a matte finish within 4-5 seconds. Unlike other matter lipsticks, it does not end up drying your lips at all and are pretty moisturizing. They don’t feel heavy or thick on the lips and goes well if combined with other lip products. The staying power is quite decent, they managed to stay for about 4-5 hrs without fading.
It comes in a plastic gloss like tube packaging with matte black cap. The shades are visible from the outer cover which makes it easy to identify the color, which I personally liked. The overall look is quite attractive and travel friendly. The applicator is of basic doe foot shaped which makes the application easy and controlled on the lips. The product have a light vanilla-ish scent which doesn’t really bothers much and goes away after few minutes.
Now Coming to the shades..
San Paulo.. It’s a very nice corally pink shade that looks beautiful on the lips. The formula is pigmented and one swipe of application will give enough color. Swatch given below:
Addis Ababa..This shade is a gorgeous Fuchsia Pink color. The pigmentation for this particular shade is not very great, hence you need to build up the intensity to bring out maximum color. I also found this color to fade out a bit after 2-3 hours. But that’s Ok, if you don’t mind re-applying the product, then it’s a good shade to go for. Swatched below:
What I Like:
- Smooth and Creamy Texture
- Easy to apply, spreads nicely on the lips
- Not Sticky
- Does not bleed
- Easy to remove..does not leave any stain or color behind
- Available in various pretty shades
- Attractive packaging, travel friendly, light weight
- Affordable price..even cheaper if purchased online from international websites.
What I dislike:
- The particular shade-Addis Ababa fades after some time. Less pigmented comparatively.
- Physical Availability..only at Sephora Stores
- May give a dry patchy look after few hours or even settles into fine line. Not suitable for extreme dry lips.
I definitely recommend this product. Comes in several pretty shades. The formula isn’t the best but it’s worth trying. Applying a lip balm prior to it’s use will get rid of the dry and patchy matter. Overall, I loved them completely. Would love to try out other shades as well sply. Morocco(Orangish Shade) and Prague (Purple Mauvish Shade). Go for it Girls 🙂
